Ministry of Foreign Affairs "Russia should stop illegal military cooperation with North Korea and play a constructive role"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the Russian government, which submitted the ratification of the North Korea-Russia Treaty to the House of Representatives, to stop illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia and play a more constructive role for true peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lee Jae-woong said in a briefing today that he is watching Russia's ratification process with concern at a time when North Korea is unilaterally and deliberately escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

He then stressed that North Korea-Russia cooperation should be carried out in strict compliance with UN Security Council resolutions and international law and should not be harmful to our security.

He added that we will firmly deal with any actions that threaten our security with the international community.
