The Changwon District Court suspended the sentence of three months in prison for Kim Mi-na, a Changwon City Council member charged with insult.
The court explained the reason for the dismissal of the appeal, saying that the suspended sentence of three months in prison, which is the lower judgment, cannot be considered lighter than the fine claimed by the prosecutor.
The suspended sentence is a judgment that delays the sentence for a certain period of time for a minor crime, and makes it virtually nonexistent two years after the grace date.
Rep. Kim was put on trial in December 2022 on charges of posting a disparaging post on his social network service account, saying, "Is it the second Sewol ferry?"
