Spokesman Song Young-hoon said in a commentary that the Constitutional Court's decision was a meaningful one that managed to prevent the Constitutional Court from being paralyzed by the insistence of the Democratic Party.
He then pointed out that the situation at the Constitutional Court is very severe, and that three National Assembly-elected constitutional judges will soon retire, and as of August 31, there were 1,215 pending cases at the Constitutional Court.
In particular, the Constitutional Court's handling of cases without three out of nine judges will inevitably be delayed, it added.
He also urged the Democratic Party to agree on the election of a successor to the Constitutional Court now, saying that preventing the paralysis of the Constitutional Court should not prolong the vacancy of the Constitutional Court.
