Seoul National University President "approves leave of absence, respects decision of dean of medical school"

Regarding Seoul National University Medical School's approval of a large-scale leave of absence, Yoo Hong-rim, president of Seoul National University, said that the university is responsible for the operation of the university and respects the decision of the dean of the medical school.

President Yoo said at the parliamentary inspection of the National Assembly Education Committee yesterday (15th), "Seoul National University started as a university, and the tradition of respecting the autonomy of colleges was reflected in the school regulations."

When asked if the medical school arbitrarily approved the leave of absence, as the Ministry of Education explained, there was no prior consultation.

However, he added that the medical school explained that it is no longer possible to physically operate the curriculum, so it is necessary to persuade students to return next semester.
