While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for the withdrawal of U.N. peacekeepers in Lebanon, Italian Prime Minister Jorja Meloni dismissed calls for the withdrawal and signaled a visit to Lebanon.

In a speech to the House of Commons, Meloni said it would be a grave mistake if it followed Israel's unilateral demands and that he would visit Lebanon on the 18th.

It also said attacks on U.N. peacekeepers were unacceptable and criticized the Israeli military for clearly violating U.N. resolutions.

AFP reported that if Meloni visits Lebanon, he will be the first head of state to enter Lebanon since the 23rd of last month, when Israel began an all-out war with Hezbollah.

In a phone call with Netanyahu on the 13th, Meloni also said that attacks on U.N. peacekeepers were unacceptable.
