Since Israel's massive attack on Lebanon, there have been various damages, including injuries, among U.N. peacekeepers stationed there.

Then Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for the withdrawal, saying the UN forces had become Hezbollah's hostages.

Italian Prime Minister Jorja Meloni criticized Netanyahu head-on, saying attacks by U.N. forces were unacceptable and no withdrawal.

[Jorza Meloni / Italian Prime Minister: I believe the withdrawal of UN peacekeepers at the unilateral request of Israel is a grave mistake and undermines the credibility of the mission itself and that of the UN]

Prime Minister Meloni announced that he would visit Lebanon on the 18th.

If the visit goes through, he will be the first head of state to visit Lebanon since the all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah.

French President Emmanuel Macron pressed Netanyahu, saying, "Don't forget that Israel's founding was possible by the UN's decision."

The United Nations has warned that attacks targeting U.N. forces and facilities there could be war crimes.

[Stephen Dujarric / UN spokesman] UN peacekeeping personnel and related facilities should never be targeted. Attacks on peacekeepers or attacks that violate international law can amount to war crimes.

Amid growing international criticism of Israel, Hezbollah has repeatedly said that a ceasefire is the solution.

[Sheikh Naim Qasem / Hezbollah No.2] We will attack the Israeli army and the center and their enclave intensively. Let me be clear to Israel. The solution is a ceasefire.]

Hezbollah emphasized that a ceasefire should be reached with Gaza and that it would fight until the end if Israel did not respond.

But Netanyahu has nailed no ceasefire unless there is a buffer zone along the Israeli-Lebanon border and blocks Hezbollah's rearmament.

Amid this situation, the British Financial Times pointed out that Israel is running out of air defense interceptors as it goes to war with Iran and Hezbollah at the same time.

Hezbollah and Iran remain significant missile capabilities, while U.S. support for Ukraine together will be limited, the paper added.
