In an interview with SVT, a Swedish public broadcaster, shortly after the Nobel Prize was announced, Han said, "I like to live peacefully and quietly, and now I want to focus on writing."
He then explained that there seems to be some confusion about not having an official conference, and that he told his father that as there is a lot of pain in the world, he did not want to have a big feast with the villagers.
Writer Han Kang also said, "I hope one day we can learn from the past," and stressed that it is a clear conclusion from long learning that at least we should stop the murder.
Finally, Han added that he will finish his short novel soon and focus on writing his acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize.
