Jesse Lingard, a former England star who made his K-League 1 debut in Korea this year, is running for a spectacular finish to the first season with FC Seoul, giving up his "birthday party promise" with his daughter.
Lingard attended the Hana Bank K League 1 2024 Final Round Media Day held at Nuri Dream Square in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 16th and met with reporters and said, "I don't think there's anything special to prepare for the final round. It's important to do it with the same mindset as we've done so far," he said.
After 33 regular rounds, K League 1 will enter the final round by dividing it into 1st to 6th and 7th to 12th places from this weekend.
During the A-match period in October ahead of the final round, Lingard tried to go to England for a while, but canceled the plan and took a break in Korea before immersing himself in training.
Lingard explained, "I was going to have a party in England because it was my daughter's (hope, born in 2018), but I felt a bit tight in my hamstring (the muscles behind my thigh) during training, so I decided to stay in Korea and recover after thinking about it."
"It was a long-awaited schedule, but the flight time to England is long and there is a time difference, so I thought it would be too much. "It was important to take care of my body as a player," he said. "My daughter was also disappointed, but she explained the situation well and understood."
