Tomorrow (17th) night, the biggest and brightest full moon of the year will rise.

The moon rises at 5:18 p.m. on Dokdo and 5:42 p.m. on Taean, South Chungcheong Province, and the moon can be seen from all over the country until after 7 a.m. the next morning.

When the moon is brightest and round, it is 8:26 p.m.

Compared to the 'smallest full moon of the year' on the 15th of January in February, it is expected to be 14% larger and 30% brighter.

The size of the moon changes like this because it orbits the Earth in an elliptical orbit. The distance between the Earth and the Moon was about 405,900km during the Lunar New Year's Eve, when

{the smallest full moon' rose, but tomorrow (17th) will be narrowed to 357,400km, down nearly 50,000km.

It is recommended to use a telescope because supermoon is difficult to feel a big difference with the naked eye,
Special observation sessions for the full moon will be held in various places, including the Gwacheon National Science Museum in
.

[Park Dae-young / Astronomical Space Team Leader of Gwacheon National Science Museum: It may be a little chilly in October because the event will be held in the evening. Children's safety, especially the shoes that light up. This is a bit of a distraction for others, so you'd better avoid it....]

This is the third supermoon this year.

A full moon or an eve moon within 90% of the moon's nearest 'near point' to the Earth is called a supermoon.

It's named by an astrologer named Richard Nori in the United States, and it's not an astronomical term.
