The nation's first public fossil museum with 20,000 fossils, including dinosaur footprints and trilobites, opened in Dalseong, Daegu.

Unlike private museums, which mainly exhibit foreign fossils, they focused on the history and education of domestic fossils and excavations.

Reporter Kim Geun-woo reports.

Hundreds of fossils with ancient mystique fill the exhibition hall.

Spider fossils, which are also rare worldwide because of their lack of hard tissue, catch the eye at once.

From dinosaurs and turtle eggs, I dream of becoming a paleontologist by seeing fossils with vivid surface textures.

[Iseulbi / Pyeongri-dong, Daegu: It was good that a child could come and see fossils in person and learn them through video because the knowledge that had been cut off was connected, so I think it was an opportunity for me to study together.]

Dalseong-gun, Daegu, opened a public fossil museum for the first time in the country.

More than 20,000 fossils and rocks, including dinosaur footprints, trilobites, and ammoniumites, were exhibited.

Unlike private museums, which mainly exhibit overseas fossils, we have increased the proportion of fossils in Korea by 90% using the public purpose.

[Jeong Eun-kyung / Dalseong-gun County Office] Most of the large and beautiful foreign fossils are on display. Many fossils from various eras and different periods are found in Korea, and these fossils do not seem to be known to the general public..]There will also be educational programs linked by each institution, such as the Daegu National Science Museum and the Dream Tree Science Museum, which are close to

.

[Choi Jaehoon / Daegu Dalseong County Governor: We are preparing and planning a lot of children's programs centered on education, so we hope that this space will be the birthplace of future dreamers who will lead us to Dalseong and Daegu]

Starting next month, we also plan to run an education program for group visitors.
