Test takers have begun preparing for legal action in connection with the controversy over the leakage of essay questions at Yonsei University.

As fairness is undermined and re-examination is necessary, the effectiveness of the test will be suspended before the announcement of successful applicants and confirmed invalidity by the court.

So far, it has been confirmed that about 50 people, including test takers and parents, have decided to participate.

Reporter Lim Ye-jin reports.

On the online community where college entrance examiners gathered, a message was posted that they would take legal action, such as applying for an injunction to suspend the validity of the test, in connection with the controversy over the leakage of essay questions at Yonsei University.

As a result of the confirmation, it was found that about 50 natural science candidates and parents were actually preparing a lawsuit.

As cheating is suspected, the government intends to suspend the entrance examination process by receiving an injunction application before the announcement of successful applicants for the re-examination, and invalidate the essay exam.

[Yeonse University essay test applicant: It seems that there is only a retest to restore the damaged fairness.... If the school becomes a period of time and the successful candidates are announced, there is no turning back after that, so we have proceeded with the lawsuit like this.]

After reviewing the law, they plan to file a provisional injunction with the court as early as this week and file a lawsuit to confirm the invalidity of the test.

However, Yonsei University insisted that there was no problem with the fairness of the entrance examination and filed a complaint with the police by identifying the two test takers who leaked photos of the test paper.

It also accused four unidentified candidates, including those who posted on the Internet that they solved the problem using ChatGPT during the test.

Yonsei University also filed an investigation request with the police, asking them to find out whether there was any damage to fairness during the essay examination.

Yonsei University, which had repeatedly said earlier that there would be no retest, said it would leave all possibilities open and wait for the results as it requested an investigation.

In addition, five measures were announced three days after the incident, including an official apology under the name of the admissions director and a re-examination of the test management system, but controversy over fairness continues amid opposition from test takers.
