The Seoul Western District Court will hold a sentencing hearing at 10:30 a.m. today against three officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, including former Commissioner Kim, who are accused of professional negligence.
Earlier, the prosecution demanded a five-year prison term, saying that former Commissioner Kim, who has responsibility and authority in a crowded situation where crowds are concentrated, raised his anger because he did not recognize the danger.

Kim and others have pleaded not guilty, saying that it was difficult to predict the crush just with the information that 100,000 people would gather in Itaewon, adding that police forces were deployed accordingly due to greater concerns over crimes such as drugs.
Earlier at the end of last month, former Yongsan Police Chief Lee Im-jae, who is accused of the same charges, was sentenced to three years in prison, and Yongsan-gu District Commissioner Park Hee-young was acquitted.
Since the day before yesterday (15th), the bereaved families of the Itaewon disaster have been holding relay picketing in front of the court, demanding strict punishment from former Commissioner Kim.
