In his speech after the election was confirmed, Chung said that the election was an important moment in choosing the future of education and that it would be the first step toward taking Seoul education to the next level.
He also stressed that he will create an environment where children can fully expand their creativity, cooperation and autonomy through education that fosters fierce historical consciousness and cultural and artistic sensitivity.
Chung, who is a single candidate for the progressive camp, pledged to inherit former Superintendent Cho Hee-yeon's core policies such as innovative schools and student human rights ordinances.
President-elect Chung will start his term immediately after his inauguration ceremony this afternoon (17th) and lead education in Seoul until the end of June 2026.
