said the aim was to deploy North Korean troops near the border between Russia and Ukraine to circulate or replenish Russian troops.

According to the previous day's report, "3,000 North Korean troops are being organized in a special battalion within Russia's 11th Airborne Charge Brigade. North Korea has started providing large-scale troops as well as weapons, he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a speech to parliament that his country's intelligence agency confirmed that North Korean troops had been deployed.

North Korean personnel are replacing Russians who died in the war, claiming that this is North Korea's de facto participation in the war on the Russian side.
