Lee Sung-yoon, a lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Jeong Jae-kyu, head of the Jeonju District Court, at the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee's parliamentary audit held at the Daejeon High Court, saying, "We are being told that the Jeonju District Court is a search warrant vending machine."
"The prosecution is conducting an exploratory search and seizure with a tail," Lee said, adding, "If the judge has his conviction and will, he can prevent the search and seizure until he is guilty."
The Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office raided Seo and his ex-wife Moon Da-hye's residence, the Ministry of Unification, and the Presidential Archives while investigating the case.
According to the data analyzed by lawmaker Lee, the Jeonju District Court's seizure and search warrant issuance rate over the past five years was 92.7%.
