According to the first "Global Brand Survey 2024" released by Nikkei Research, a comprehensive research firm of Japan's Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) Group, Samsung Electronics ranked first among the top 100 brands.
The survey was conducted in eight countries: China, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Samsung Electronics ranked No. 1 in Vietnam, No. 2 in Thailand and India, and also ranked top in the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Germany's Adidas ranked second, the U.S. Apple ranked third, Japan's Sony ranked fourth, and the U.S. Nike ranked fifth.
Four Korean companies, along with Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics (16th), Hyundai Motor (26th), and Lotte (65th), were included in the top 100 brands.
After Sony, electronics and automakers such as Honda (6th), Toyota Motor (7th), and Panasonic (9th) ranked in the top 10 in Japan.
As a Chinese company, electronics company Haier ranked 58th.
Nikkei Research explained that the survey measured and indexed brand value based on "brand power," which represents brand awareness, and "brand contribution analysis," which represents the intensity of decision-making such as purchasing products.
