The Israeli military is confirming the facts, believing that Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas, a Palestinian militant faction, may have died.

"We have carried out operations in Gaza and removed three Hamas militants," the Israeli military said in a statement on the 17th local time. "We are confirming that one of them may be Sinwar."

However, he said, "At this stage, the terrorists have not been identified," adding that there were no signs of hostages in the building where they were killed.

Sinwar took over in July after Hamas's top political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in an apparent Israeli assassination attack in Tehran, Iran.

Although rumors of Shinwar's death were raised recently due to his absence, reports said on the 7th that he had sent a message to the negotiating delegation in Qatar.
