On Thursday local time, President Biden said he would write off an additional $4.5 billion in student loans from more than 60,000 borrowers in a student loan forgiveness program for public sector workers.
The White House explained that the Biden administration's actions have so far resulted in a total of 5 million borrowers, including public sector workers such as teachers and nurses, worth $175 billion and about 239.9 trillion won in our money.
"Before taking office with Vice President Harris, only 7,000 people had been written off from the program," Biden said, stressing that "now more than a million public sector workers will receive relief under the law."
President Biden's announcement of additional student write-offs is believed to have in mind the votes of highly educated voters with college graduates or higher in next month's U.S. presidential election.
In a statement, Harris said she was proud of the fact that one million teachers, nurses, emergency responders and social workers in the public sector have received student write-offs.
