The White House said Yahya Sinwar, who was confirmed to have died in Israel, was a terrorist and that one obstacle to peace was removed.

During an in-flight briefing on Biden's trip to Germany, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan characterized Sinwar as a killer terrorist responsible for the worst Jewish slaughter since the Holocaust.

Sinwar, who had a lot of blood on his hands, also said it was a huge obstacle to peace and stressed that the obstacle has now been removed.

Sullivan said he expected President Biden to soon hold a call with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss next steps, including the issue of hostages held by Hamas.
