An activity applicant accused of child abuse for slapping or dragging his or her body to discipline severely disabled children has been found not guilty by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court upheld the original ruling that acquitted A, an activity supporter in his 60s, who was accused of violating the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities Act.

Earlier in 2022, A was sentenced to a fine of 3 million won in the first trial for hitting and forcibly dragging or causing him to fall three times while taking care of an 11-year-old child with a severe intellectual disability.

However, the second trial court acquitted children with developmental disabilities in consideration of a series of disciplinary processes and intentions, rather than seeing them in pieces on the day of the incident, and was confirmed by the Supreme Court.
