While the number of patients infected with syphilis, a venereal disease, is increasing rapidly in Japan, it is also affecting the Japanese adult product (AV) market.

According to Hong Kong media HK01, "Japanese famous AV actor Ayaka Muto (43) recently canceled the filming after being tested positive for syphilis."

Muto announced the news on his SNS.

Muto said, "I didn't know that I had syphilis because I didn't feel any physical symptoms," adding, "I went to a regular checkup in August and was tested positive for syphilis."

Muto, who is suffering from severe stress due to syphilis, said, "I even thought of retiring," adding, "I don't want to shoot AV anymore."

Currently, the number of syphilis patients in Japan has exploded since 2021 when the spread of COVID-19 has slowed.

According to Japan's National Institute of Infectious Diseases on the 8th, the number of reported syphilis infections this year was 17,766.

This is close to last year (11,260 cases), which recorded the highest incidence of syphilis ever, and 70% of infected people are men and 30% are women.
