Ukraine has ordered evacuations in four regions, including Kupyansk, northeast of Kharkiv, as the Russian offensive intensifies.
Kharkiv Governor Oleg Cinehubow said the evacuation order was mandatory and the goal was to evacuate 4,000 people.
Russian forces are advancing westward, occupying several villages in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region, and focusing their firepower on northern Kharkiv as well.
