On the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate soared to 1,373 won during the session and then reduced its decline to around 1,370 won.
As of 3:30, it was 1,369.7 won, up 1.1 won from the previous day.
The market believes that expectations that the U.S. economy will continue to grow around 3% in the third quarter and the European Central Bank's decision to cut interest rates have affected the strong dollar phenomenon.
The KOSPI and KOSDAQ indexes fell together.
The Kospi closed 0.59 percent lower at 2,593.82, and the tech-heavy KOSDAQ index closed 1.55 percent lower at 753.22.
SK hynix lost 4.4 percent, and Samsung Electronics dropped 0.8 percent to "50,000 electronics" as of the third day of close.
