Police have launched an investigation after a mother in her 90s and a son in his 60s were found dead in an apartment in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.

Namyangju Bukbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said it received a report of the death of a mother and her brother at an apartment in Jinjeon-eup, Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do at around 4 p.m. today.

The caller is the second son and is said to have lived with them.

The dispatched police confirmed that A, a mother in her 90s, and B, a fourth son in his 60s, died in their respective rooms.

The police found that they have been suffering from chronic diseases such as diabetes for a long time and that A has not eaten food for 10 days.

The family told the police that even though B had a chronic disease, he drank alcohol every day and locked his door in his room.

The police assumed that B's body was not dead today based on the stiffness of B's body.

The police plan to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to investigate the exact cause of death, but they believe there are no charges of crime such as murder so far.
