Russia has not officially responded to the National Intelligence Service's announcement that North Korea has decided to send a large number of special forces troops to support Russian forces and has already moved some to Russia.

The Kremlin, the Russian Foreign Ministry, and the Ministry of National Defense have not made any related statements since the NIS announced that 1,500 North Korean soldiers had already moved to Vladivostok, Russia by the evening of the 18th local time.

While major foreign media around the world reported the NIS announcement, related articles cannot be found on the websites of Russian state-run news agencies such as Tas and RIA Novosti.

Only some media, such as Meduza and other independent media and Telegram news channels, are reporting the news.

Earlier this month, when rumors of the dispatch of North Korean troops were steadily raised through Ukrainian media, Russia denied it, calling it "fake news."

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called Ukrainian media reports "another fake news" at a briefing on the 10th.

Putin, who attended the BRICS media conference, also expressed his views on Middle East issues such as the war in Ukraine and the war in Gaza, but did not mention sending North Korean troops.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev, vice chairman of Russia's National Security Council, a close aide to Putin, posted comments on social media on the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty" between Russia and North Korea, which recently entered the ratification process.

"It is no coincidence that Russia and North Korea have decided to provide mutual military support in the event of an invasion," Medvedev said. "We have endured a time of testing."
