National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik promised to do his best to ensure that the investigation into the October 19 incident in Yeosu and Suncheon is resumed within this year.

Chairman Woo attended the 76th anniversary joint memorial service held at the Korea Tea Culture Park in Boseong, Jeollanam-do, saying he was ashamed of the delay in revising the Special Act on Yeosun Incident, and said the National Assembly Speaker will also step up to prevent the suspension of fact-finding and honor recovery.

He then asked for the measures and support necessary to identify the damage and sacrifice of the people caused by public authorities, and asked the government to be more active.

This is the first time the National Assembly speaker has attended the memorial service for the Yeosun Incident.
