Quarantine work is underway due to the outbreak of rumpiskin, a livestock epidemic, at a Korean beef farm in Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Rumpiskin's quarantine headquarters said five of the 47 Korean cattle raised on the farm in Ian-myeon, Sangju were confirmed to be positive and decided to bury them.

The quarantine authorities have dispatched an initial quarantine team and an epidemiological investigation team to control access to the farm, and the remaining 42 animals will be tested additionally.

In addition, nine city and county livestock facilities, including Mungyeong and Yecheon, adjacent to Sangju, were ordered to temporarily suspend movement until 9 p.m. on the 21st.

This is the 10th time Rumpiskin has been confirmed this year, and the first case in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Rumpiskin is a viral disease infected by vampire insects, and although the mortality rate is not high, it causes miscarriage and infertility.
