It is a time when the number of hikers increases as the autumn leaves become more colorful.

However, the risk of accidents increases if you let your guard down because autumn mountains have a large temperature difference and the sun sets faster than flat land.

Autumn mountains begin to change their colorful clothes under the blue sky.

The mountains are the most beautiful time of the year.

As the morning temperature fell and the daily temperature range began to vary significantly, the first autumn leaves with about 20% of the mountain were expanded to Chiaksan Mountain, and the mountains in Gangwon-do were at their peak.

After the end of this month, you will be able to enjoy red autumn leaves even in inland mountains.

However, autumn mountains hide the danger of accidents behind their beauty, so special attention is needed.

In particular, early autumn, when autumn leaves are colored, is a time when the number of hikers increases, mountain accidents are concentrated, and the risk increases significantly.

Statistics released by the National Fire Agency show that 25% of monthly mountain accident rescue cases have been concentrated in September and October over the past three years, with causes in the order of loss, fall, loss of road and illness.

It requires more thorough preparation and attention than other seasons.

Above all, you have to prepare well for the big temperature difference.

Unlike flat land, in mountainous areas, the temperature drops close to 0 degrees, and the wind chill falls below zero.

Unlike flat land, the daily temperature difference is more than 20 degrees, so if you go hiking in light clothes, you are more likely to develop hypothermia.

Also, don't forget that mountains get darker earlier than flat land.

[Lee Jae-jeong / Kweather Forecast Team Leader: Usually, the sun sets around 6 p.m. on the plains in autumn. However, in the mountains in autumn, the sun sets two to three hours earlier than this, so you have to prepare for the fact that it darkens faster than the flat land.]

Before climbing the mountain in autumn, you should warm up your body sufficiently by stretching, checking the weather information, and choosing a course that suits your physical strength.

It is also most important to plan your time so that you can go down safely before sunset.
