As more people visit the mountains for the fall foliage season, mountain accidents are also occurring one after another.

However, there are many cases of requesting rescue simply because it is difficult to walk or because it has exhausted its physical strength, so there is a high risk of disruption to the actual urgent rescue.

Reporter Song Se-hyuk covered it.

Rescue workers with stretchers carefully descend the dark mountain path.

A woman who climbed the mountain alone injured her ankles and head and asked for help.20 members were mobilized for the

rescue.

I walked a rough mountain path for five hours in pitch-black darkness and rescued safely.

[Son Kyung-wan / Seoraksan National Park Special Mountain Rescue Captain: I was a little off the road when I came down late, and I slipped and rolled about 3 meters.]

On average, there are more than 10 rescue requests every weekend at Mt. Seorak for the fall foliage season.

There have been 33,000 mountain accidents nationwide over the past three years.

One in four cases was concentrated in September and October, the fall season.

The problem is, there are many cases of asking for help simply because it is difficult to walk even though it is not injured.

When rescuers come down from the mountain after struggling to rescue them on a piggyback or using a stretcher, half of the total rescue on Mt. Seorak recently takes place on foot. When they receive a report

, the crew members who do not hesitate to come to the rescue cannot hide their disappointment whenever this situation is repeated.

[Son Kyung-wan / Seoraksan National Park Special Mountain Rescue Captain: Even if you go down a mountain on your back, if you come to the parking lot, you can walk on your own again. In fact, you lose your energy.]

In particular, a rescue request that considers only one's own convenience may delay the urgent rescue.

Experts advise that it is important to choose a course that suits your physical strength and go down two hours before sunset.

In addition, it is emphasized that non-governmental trails that are prohibited from entering should not be entered as the risk of accidents is high and the structure is difficult.

There are also calls for the introduction of a billing system to reduce unnecessary rescue requests.
