The cops who threw their lives at the weapon and the bullet...Four 'Police Heroes' of the Year

Inspector Shim Jae-ho, who died while arresting a suspect in a violent crime as a police hero this year, Chief Lee Jae-hyun, and Sergeant Na Sung-joo and Sergeant Jang Jin-hee, who died during the 1995 Buyeo anti-espionage operation, were selected.

Chief Inspector Shim Jae-ho and Chief Inspector Lee Jae-hyun died in August 2004 after being attacked by a weapon wielded by the suspect while working as a violent squad detective for the Seoul Western Police Station.

Sergeant Na Sung-joo and Sergeant Jang Jin-hee were dispatched to the scene in October 1995 when they were working at Buyeo Police Station in Chungcheongnam-do after receiving a report that an armed spy appeared, but died after a shootout with a spy.

To honor the spirit of sacrifice of the two police officers, the government awarded the Chungmu Order of Merit along with a second-class special force and built a police loyalty tower at the site of the Buyeo anti-espionage operation in December 1997.
