A video of a 19-year-old man in Gaza being burned to death alive in a refugee tent village he believed would be safe has sparked outrage around the world.

The New York Times reported that al-Dalu, a college student, was burned to death at the site of Al-Aqsa Martyr's Hospital in Deir al-Bala, central Gaza, on the 14th.

Israel said it had attacked the hospital complex with the aim of striking Hamas command center, but the fire hit the evacuees in the hospital's parking lot, killing Aldalu and his mother and several others.

They believed Israel would abide by international law that it should not attack medical facilities and set up a tent next to the hospital, where they were defecated.

Aldalu was vividly recorded on video by a refugee camp witness and spread to symbolize the fear of war and the heartbreak of Gaza residents.

Aldalu, who sadly died a day before his 20th birthday, was once a young man who dreamed of becoming a doctor and was studying at Gaza City's Alhazir University before the war and hoping to get a PhD in software abroad.

The war cost him all his dreams, but Aldalu never gave up his life, posting appeals on social media to stop the war, posting videos of the evacuation scene and asking for help through online fundraising site GoFundMe.

As time passed, Aldalu, who suffered from injuries and malnutrition, thought that escape from Gaza was the only way, and even let people around him know his plans.

"His plan was to find a way to get his sister, brother and parents out after he got out," Aldalu's aunt Carbahan said.

Aldalu has raised more than $20,000 in escape funds through international activists contacted by the internet, but his attempt to escape was scuttled when Israel shut down the Rafa checkpoint leading to Egypt since May.

But Aldalu was not frustrated, watching the news and analyzing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech, encouraging his family that "everything will be fine."

Aldalu has been through a number of crises, including miraculously saving his life in Israel's mosque attacks that killed 26 people 10 days before his death, but the Israeli airstrike ultimately killed him.

The shocking footage of al-Dalu and other refugees' final appearances was enough to amplify international concerns about the way Israel conducts its war.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said in a statement on the 16th, "There are no words to explain what we have seen," adding, "Israel is responsible for doing everything possible to avoid civilian casualties, even if Hamas operated near hospitals."
