Kyobo Bookstore announced in a notice on the signboard of its Gwanghwamun branch in Seoul that it will temporarily restrict the sale of books by Han Kang to coexist with local bookstores until the 31st.
It will resume sales on the 1st of next month and added that we would like you to use a local bookstore nearby for the time being.
However, for minimal customer convenience, only 2,000 copies will be sold per day to eight stores, including Gwanghwamun headquarters and Gangnam branches, and 150,000 copies will be supplied to local bookstores over the next 10 days.
Kyobo Bookstore is a wholesale and retail company that sells or supplies books, and the Korea Bookstore Association earlier criticized Kyobo Bookstore for not supplying books of Han River to local bookstores for its own profits.
