The bereaved families of the October 29 Itaewon disaster and the civic countermeasure meeting held a press conference yesterday (21st) afternoon near the exit 1 of Itaewon Station.
They stressed that proper fact-finding requires a strong will from bereaved families and citizens who want the truth, and that the special investigation committee should empower the special investigation committee to conduct a fact-finding mission without wavering in any way.
Kim Kwang-ho, former head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and Park Hee-young, the head of Yongsan-gu District Office, said they were miserable and disappointed that they were acquitted in the first trial, adding that they can take a step forward to a safe society only when they hold those responsible accountable.
