Buying institutions and foreigners...KOSPI closes higher for first time in four trading days

The KOSPI closed higher for the first time in four trading days on the back of buying by institutional and foreign investors.

Yesterday (21st), the KOSPI closed at 2,604.92, up 0.43% from the previous trading day.

Individuals sold it out, but institutions and foreigners bought it, boosting the overall index.

The trend of the top market cap stocks was mixed.

Samsung Electronics, the top market cap, closed lower at 59,000 won after posting a new 52-week low during the day as foreign net selling continued for 29 trading days.

No. 2 SK hynix rose 1.92 percent to 199,000 won on earnings expectations.

KOSDAQ closed 0.89% higher at 759.95.

The local currency was trading at 1,375.2 won against the U.S. dollar as of 3:30 p.m. on the Seoul foreign exchange market, up 5.5 won.
