Korean Medical Association "participation in the consultative body"...an emergency board meeting in response to internal opposition

After the chairman of the Korean Medical Association expressed his intention to participate in the ruling-opposition council to the executives, the medical association held an emergency board meeting to come up with measures.

Lee Jin-woo, president of the Korean Medical Association, sent a message to the association's executives that the association and the Korea Medical University Medical School decided to participate in the ruling-opposition parliamentary consultative body to resolve the legislative conflict.

The message said, "I'm sorry I couldn't discuss it with the directors in advance," and asked them to support it, although it's a difficult decision.

Since then, the medical society has held an emergency board meeting today (22nd) and started discussing future steps as internal opposition continued.

An official from the medical association explained that Chairman Lee sent a message without going through an internal decision process, and that a majority of them are currently opposed to participating in the consultative body.
