Daegu City Extends Retirement Age for First Public Service Workers in Local Governments to 65

Daegu Metropolitan City is the first local government to gradually extend the retirement age for public service workers from the current 60 to 65.

Civil service workers are in charge of facility maintenance, equipment management, and water meter reading at Daegu City Hall and Daegu City-affiliated businesses, and 412 people, excluding cleaners whose retirement age has already been extended, are eligible for extension.

The Daegu Metropolitan Government explained that it is not just to delay the retirement age, but to minimize the income gap due to the aging population and the starting age of the national pension.
