Ahead of Halloween on the 31st, the government has come up with safety management measures in preparation for crowd accidents.

A general situation room will be set up in Itaewon, Seoul, where the disaster occurred two years ago, and more than 4,000 safety management workers, including police and fire fighting, will be deployed.

The government will run a special safety management period for eight days from the 25th ahead of Halloween next week.

To begin with, we intensively manage 27 regions across the country that are visited by large crowds annually:

Site situation management officers will be dispatched to 12 areas, including downtown Seoul, Seomyeon, Busan, and Dongseong-ro, Daegu.

The plan is to check the emergency response system with local governments, police, and related agencies such as fire fighting and manage the site until the crowd is dispersed.

Ahead of the second anniversary of the Itaewon disaster, the government said it felt an infinite responsibility for the safety of the people and asked each ministry to pay special attention.

In Itaewon, where the pain of the disaster two years ago remains, a joint situation room is set up at Noksapyeong Station Square.

The plan is to manage crowds in real time and respond quickly to emergency situations in connection with the CCTV control center.

In particular, from this year, crowd management measures will be promoted in three stages according to the congestion situation based on the number of people getting off at Itaewon Station.

Measures are operated in alleyways around Itaewon Station, such as World Food and Culture Street and Quinon-gil, in accordance with the on-site situation.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to deploy more than 400 safety management personnel, including local government officials, police, firefighting, and transportation corporations, near Itaewon.
