The U.S. government has not officially confirmed the NIS's analysis that North Korea plans to send troops to Russia, but has made it clear that the cooperation between South Korea and the U.S. is not inconsistent.

Asked if there seems to be a difference in the South Korean and U.S. authorities' analysis of North Korea's military activities, Vedant Patel, a deputy State Department spokesman, said the U.S. intelligence verification should go through its own process and evaluation.

He stressed that the U.S. self-assessment does not reflect any analysis of any other country, whether it is South Korea.

Asked if he did not trust South Korea's information, Patel also replied that it was not a matter of trust at all and that we wanted to provide the most up-to-date and accurate assessments.

Patel said the relationship with South Korea is one of the most important, stressing that South Korea is a key partner, especially in the goal of peace and stability across the Indo-Pacific.
