The Truth and Reconciliation Committee has decided to investigate the truth about three cases of civilian casualties in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, before and after the Korean War.

At the 89th committee held yesterday (22nd), the committee decided to find out the truth about 41 civilians killed by the military and police in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, before and after the Korean War.

The four victims were found to be children under the age of 10 who were affected by the evacuation with their parents, and four victims of teenagers aged 11 to 19 were also counted.

It also decided to find out the truth about the case in Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, where 22 civilians were mass victimized by the police on the grounds that they were suspected of serving during the occupation of the People's Army.

In addition, a truth investigation was decided on the case of 41 civilians being shot or injured in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, by the military, police, and right-wing youth groups.

The committee recommended an official apology from the state and local governments and measures to recover from the damage in all three cases.
