"This bridge has not only the main tower, but also the starting and ending points of the Guri-Pocheon Expressway and the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway in Guri," said Shin Dong-hwa, chairman of the Guri City Council. "The name should be decided in consideration of these characteristics and symbolism."
The bridge is 1,725 meters long in Section 14 of the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway and connects Topyeong-dong, Godeok-dong, Guri-si and Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul.
In the meantime, the city of Guri insisted that the bridge should be named 'Guri Bridge'.
Both the main towers of this bridge, which is a cable-stayed bridge, were in copper in the administrative district.
On the other hand, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, countered with Godeok Bridge, saying that it continued to be used as a name for construction projects from the beginning of the construction.
In the end, the National Nominating Committee recently decided to name the bridge "Godeok Topyeong Bridge" by combining the opinions of the two local governments.
