The Incheon Metropolitan Government announced on the 25th that it plans to submit a "proposal for a leading underground subway project" to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
In June, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced a plan to select a leading project to prioritize undergrounding among the nation's ground railways.
Incheon City has prepared a proposal accordingly and plans to establish a detailed commercialization plan next year if it is selected as a leading project.
The proposal will be carried out jointly with Gyeonggi-do Province, including a 22.63km section of the Gyeongin Railway between Incheon Station and Onsu Station, of which the Incheon section is 14km from Incheon Station to Bugae Station.
The total project cost is estimated to be 6.6 trillion won, with 3.4 trillion won needed for underground railway and 3.2 trillion won needed to develop the upper site.
