The KOSPI closed higher on the back of a sharp rebound in shares of Samsung Electronics, the top market cap.

Today (23rd), the KOSPI closed at 2,599.62, up 1.12% from yesterday.

It is the first time in seven trading days that the KOSPI has risen more than 1% since the 14th.

Foreigners bought more than 200 billion won and institutions bought nearly 300 billion won.

In particular, Samsung Electronics, which had been weak every day due to a net selling trend by foreigners, has strengthened after a long time, boosting investor sentiment.

At one point during the day, it rose nearly 4% to recover to 60,000 won, but foreigners turned to net selling at the end of the day, limiting the top.

Despite net selling by foreigners for the 31st consecutive trading day, Samsung Electronics rose 2.43 percent to close at 59,100 won.

SK Hynix, the second-largest market cap, also rose more than 4% ahead of tomorrow's earnings report, helping the index rise.

KOSDAQ also rose 0.93% to close at 745.19.
