Recently, the Korean Medical Association and the Korean Medical College Association, which decided to participate in the "female, night, medicine, and government" consultative body, made a condition that medical students should be allowed to take a voluntary leave of absence from school.

On top of that, university professors across the country have also decided to suspend their participation, raising questions about whether it will be possible to launch a consultative body.

The Korean Medical Association and the Korea Medical University Medical School Association have put forward the issue of medical student leave of absence as a condition for participation in the "Yeongiuijeong" consultative body.

In a phone call with YTN, Lee Jin-woo, chairman of the Korean Medical Association, said he would participate immediately if he allowed medical students to take a leave of absence at the university's autonomy.

On the contrary, he stressed that he could not join the council without such measures.

It comes a day after the two organizations expressed their intention to participate and welcomed it from the government and political circles.

As the Ministry of Education put forward the issue of approval of medical student leave of absence, which is stubbornly holding out, as a prerequisite, the launch of the consultative body is in pain again.

Right now, Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong emphasized laws and school regulations during the parliamentary audit, saying that he could not recognize the alliance's leave of absence,

[Cho Kyu-hong / Minister of Health and Welfare (National Assembly Welfare Committee National Audit, yesterday): I'm telling you that the treatment of leave of absence should be done in accordance with laws and school regulations.]

The Ministry of Education also reiterated its previous position that taking a leave of absence from the alliance is not a legitimate reason for taking a leave of absence, and that it will approve the leave of absence on the premise of returning students next year.

On top of that, the response of various doctors' organizations is not very positive.

The National Council of University Professors, which was expected to participate in the council, concluded to reserve its decision on participation after an emergency general meeting.

Park Dan, the president of the council, who reaffirmed his intention not to participate in the council, set the day, saying he was doubtful about what he would do through the council.

Politicians predicted that the consultative body could be operated as early as next week, but it is expected to be difficult from the start as various unfavorable factors continue.
