The U.S. Department of Justice has warned of a law violation against Elon Musk, who offered a huge prize to encourage registration of conservative voters ahead of the U.S. presidential election.

CNN reported that the Justice Department recently warned that Musk's promise to randomly select a resident of a rival state every day and give him $1 million could be a violation of federal law.

CNN said federal law prohibits paying for voter registration and pointed out that Musk has offered prize money to voters in seven competing states.

To encourage conservative voter registration, Musk is campaigning for a petition in support of Articles 1 and 2 of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of expression and the right of prime minister, and has pledged to award prize money to voters participating in the signing.

Introducing the results of the Pennsylvania draw on the 19th, Musk said he would like to bring 2 million voters from competing states to the petition and would give one participant $1 million every day from now on.

In response, illegal controversy has been raised in politics and academia, with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shuffiro expressing deep concern.
