Ulsan University, Soonchunhyang University, Ajou University, Hallim University, and Yeungnam University also proposed a plan to invest more than 50 billion won by 2030.
In addition, 23 private university medical schools have announced that they will hire 1,327, accounting for 20% of the current number of teachers, which is about 6,600.
The government said it would spend 5 trillion won by 2030 on increased medical schools to improve medical education, with most of the subsidies focused on nine non-capital national medical schools and low-interest loans to private universities.
