The Mainichi Shimbun reported that a poll of 204,240 people with private broadcasting network JNN and others on the 22nd and 23rd showed that it was not clear whether the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito's seats would remain in the majority.
Mainichi expected the LDP to gain 171-255 seats and the Komeito 23-29 seats, respectively, in this election, with 194-254, with a majority of 233 seats in the lower house.
Before the election, there were 256 seats for the Liberal Democratic Party and 32 seats for the New Komeito Party.
Maichini predicted that the Liberal Democratic Party would be superior in about 110 out of 289 districts and more than 40 would be in contention, with only about 60 out of 176 seats in proportional representation.
On the other hand, the Constitutional Democratic Party, which had 98 seats, predicted that the number of seats would increase significantly to 126-177 seats.
