At least 17 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes at a school where evacuees stay in a refugee camp in Nuseirat, central Gaza, Palestinian hospital officials say.

Ten of the dead were women and children, and 42 were injured, the hospital said.

Israeli forces have recently attacked schools used as evacuation centers for refugees, saying they are targeting Hamas members hiding among civilians.

The Israeli military has yet to say what it says about the airstrikes.
