Regarding AI digital textbooks to be introduced next year, Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Lee Ju-ho said that the subjects introduced after 2026 will be adjusted after expert review and consultation with the Metropolitan and Provincial Offices of Education.

Deputy Prime Minister Lee stressed at the parliamentary audit of the National Assembly Education Committee yesterday (24th) that he is confident that the effectiveness of AI textbooks in English, mathematics, and information subjects has already been verified worldwide and can be applied without difficulty next year.

Asked about the concerns of some provincial superintendents, he explained that it would provide sufficient information to ease the concerns of teachers and parents.

However, regarding adjusting the number of subjects to be applied after 2026 or adjusting the way it is introduced, he said that he has a fairly reasonable proposal and is sufficiently open to refine the plan.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education decided to gradually apply AI textbooks to 5th to 6th graders in elementary school and 2nd graders in middle and high school next year, and to 3rd graders in middle school in 2027.
