Yesterday (24th) at 6:30 p.m., a large fire broke out at the 55th Supply Window at the U.S. Forces Korea base in Beomil-dong, Busan, and the extinguishing work has continued for more than nine hours.

No one was injured in the fire, but there were a series of reports of citizens as a huge fire soared over the warehouse and a lot of smoke came out.

Fire authorities issued the second stage of response, mobilizing all fire department equipment and manpower from 8 to 11 nearby fire stations, about an hour after the fire broke out, but lowered the response level at around 1 a.m. today as the fire subsided.

The fire is believed to have started in a freezer in the unit, and it was found that the fire was reported about an hour after the workers who carried out the plumbing left the site.

The 55 supply window is a military facility that stores U.S. military supplies brought into Busan Port.
