Kim Wi-sang, a member of the National Assembly's Environment and Labor Committee, analyzed the "current status of industrial accidents in comprehensive management projects such as buildings by year" submitted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the number of security guard casualties decreased from 3,812 in 2019 to 3,399 in 2020 and then increased to 3,717 in 2021, 3,899 in 2022, and 4,092 last year.
By June this year, 2,019 guards have already been injured, and if the trend continues, the number of victims is expected to exceed 4,000 this year.This is the first time that the Ministry of Employment
has released industrial accident statistics for security guards. Statistics show that the number of security guards' industrial accidents, which was 3,738 in 2014, has not decreased at all in 10 years.
Twenty-four workers were injured in 2020, 30 in 2021, 38 in 2022, and 29 in 2023 due to violent acts. Nine guards suffered industrial accidents caused by assault until June this year, according to the survey.
